Ships in Gibraltar is a wonderful image of ships under the Rock of Gibraltar sometime in the second half of the previous century. It expresses the mood of the place with the experienced, trained and skilled hand of the artist with a very interesting use of color tones so that the viewer understands the so-called Genius Loci of the place just like the painter.
The work (oil on canvas) is adjusted in a simple but well-looking frame. It is signed with a simple signature: Copola. Unfortunately, I can't assign it in time or place, no wonder, I'm not an art historian. It comes from the shop Antik v. Löwetzov on the island of Rügen and is without any signs of age or use.

Lodě v Gibraltaru je nádherný obraz lodí pod Gibraltarskou skálou někdy ve 2. pol. Předminulého století. Vyjadřuje zkušenou, školenou a zručnou rukou umělce náladu místa s velmi zajímavým využitím barevných tónů tak, že divák chápe tzv. Genius Loci místa stejně jako malíř.
Dílo (olej na plátně)je adjustováno do jednoduchého, ale dobře působícího rámu. Signováno je jednoduchým podpisem: Copola. Neumím jej bohužel časově ani místně přiřadit, není divu, nejsem kunsthistorik. Pochází z prodejny Antik v. Löwetzov na ostrově Rügen a je bez jakýchkoliv známek stáří nebo používání.
