A turning on the flash and selecting the main modes is possible with the switch on the back panel. In addition to the flash, it can also be used in four-channel wireless master or slave mode.
The zoom head can be set between the viewing angle corresponding to focal lengths of 17 mm and 200 mm, and very precisely: 17, 18 , 20, 24, 28, 35, 50, 70, 85, 105, 120, 135, 180 and 200 mm.
With the help of the built-in diffuser, the SB-900 can be made suitable for covering a viewing angle of up to 14 mm.
In addition, various color filters can be placed in front of the flash, the set includes four types: amber (TN-A1), light amber (TN-A2), green (FL-G1), light green (FL-G2).
In addition to the traditional i-TTL flash mode, the Nikon SB-900 can operate in full manual, automatic, key number (range) priority and stroboscopic modes.

The wide viewing angle makes it well suited for photographing buildings and landscapes, while the telephoto zoom makes it ideal for portraits as well. The AF-S DX Nikkor 18105mm f/3.55.6G ED VR allows you to shoot with a shutter speed three stops longer than with normal lenses, thanks to the built-in VR vibration reduction system, so the lens' imaging power is extraordinary. The high-performance optical system includes an ED glass element and an aspherical lens element optimized for use with digital SLRs. Therefore, the lens can be used to produce high-resolution, high-contrast images with minimal chromatic aberration. The built-in, extremely small Silent Wave Motor ensures quiet, fast and efficient autofocus. The refined exterior design and the leather-like texture fit perfectly with the machine.
