Irish Breakfast Tea BOP is a Black Tea Blend popular not only among our Irish clientele but everywhere. The grade, BOP, stands for “Broken Orange Pekoe,” which is where the leaves are, quite literally, broken into smaller pieces.

This creates a stronger taste when brewed, thereby making it an unmistakably hearty cuppa. We pack it fresh to order here at our Kent-based factory.
What is Irish Breakfast Tea?

This Loose Tea is a combination of Assam Tea from India and Ceylon Tea from Sri Lanka - a match made in heaven. Assam Tea, in particular, has been produced since the 1820s, while Ceylon Tea first came about in the 1860s.

Both are relatively “new” compared to the 5,000-year history of Chinese Tea. However, their “young” age has little influence on their extraordinary flavour.
What Does Irish Breakfast Tea Taste Like?

A blend such as Irish Breakfast Tea BOP is a remarkably bold infusion - indeed especially so because of its Broken Orange Pekoe grading. It has a distinct malty taste - the product, mostly, of the Assam Tea in it - with spicy undertones.

If you want a complex cuppa, then, you’ve decided well here. This beverage is bound to impress casual drinkers and connoisseurs alike.
How Much Caffeine in Irish Breakfast Tea?

Caffeine exists in all types of “real” Tea - regardless of the type you choose. However, the specific amount in your brew varies depending on the level of processing the leaves undergo.

Irish Breakfast Tea is a Black Tea, meaning it is the most processed and, as a result, has the higher level of caffeine in tea. You can expect around 45-mg of this stimulating chemical compound per 8-oz cup.
How to Make Irish Breakfast Tea

1, Buy a Tea Filter or Infuser and fill it with Loose Tea.

2, Position the Tea-filled accessory in your cup.

3, Begin brewing by pouring in freshly boiled water.

4, Allow it to steep for 3-5 minutes.

How to Serve: Milk, sugar, honey or lemon - the choice is yours. Alternatively, serve black.
Is Irish Breakfast Tea Healthy?

The simple answer to this question is “yes.” But why? This Tea contains an abundance of vitamins, minerals and other antioxidants capable of improving life in small yet significant ways.

They can, for example, combat free radicals in the body, which ultimately reduces the risk of developing a multitude of chronic conditions. And that’s just the beginning.

Research conducted by the University of Singapore has found that Black Tea - whether it’s Irish Breakfast Tea or another variety - can enhance brain function. It involved some 2,500 volunteers, aged 55 or over, drinking Tea over a two-year period.

Scientists ultimately concluded that those who drank two or three cups daily had a 55% lower chance of experiencing cognitive decline.
