Kenya Leaf Tea is one of the most popular Black Teas in the world. A Tea defined as “FOP” (Flowery Orange Pekoe), meanwhile, is equally sought-after. Combine the two and one has our Kenya Tea FOP. This scrumptious Tea offers some of the best flavours of East Africa, with sweet notes and malty undertones.

It also offers health benefits when consumed as part of an already-healthy and active lifestyle. According to the latest scientific research, all types of Black Tea, including Kenya Leaf Tea, can boost the metabolism, lower “bad” LDL cholesterol, support the immune system and reduce the risks of developing type-2 diabetes. Furthermore, preliminary research has suggested possible correlations between the frequent consumption of Black Tea and the reduced risks of developing certain types of Cancer. Who knows what the future holds? But for now, simply take comfort in the divine characteristics of Kenya Tea FOP.

The history of Tea in Kenya began in 1903. A British settler named G.W.L. Caine first introduced the Tea plant, though at this time it was purely for ornamental purposes. In 1910, a Scotsman named Arnold Butler McDonell purchased 350 acres of land in Kenya from the British government. He established his farm, Kiambethu, some 20 miles from Nairobi and began growing Coffee.

However, at an elevation of 7,2000 ft, his Coffee crops failed. Over the course of the following 10 years, he tried numerous other crops, but they all wilted under the fierce African sun. Eventually, McDonell was visited by a friend from India, who brought with him a few Tea samplings of the Camellia sinensis var assamica plant.

In 1918, Arnold planted 20 acres of Tea, and to his delight, the bushes flourished. To this day, Kiambethu Tea Farm is still run by the McDonnell family. It is one of many establishments in Kenya producing some of the tastiest Tea in the world. Today, the UK imports over 50% of Kenya’s Tea, with Kenya Leaf Tea being one of the highlights!

Health Benefits: All types of Black Tea can improve one’s everyday way of life, with Kenya Tea Leaves being no exception. According to the latest scientific research, Black Tea has metabolism-boosting properties, which enables the body to burn fat quicker and more efficiently. The metabolism refers to the chemical reaction that takes place in your body’s cells. It essentially converts the fuel in your food into energy, which is then used to power near enough everything we do.

Unfortunately, boosting the metabolism is only half the work. Exercise and healthy eating are still required for Black Tea to reach its full potential.
